Our
relationship
with our horses can sometimes resemble a rollercoaster. We
put a lot into it, and we either consciously or subconsciously
expect a lot out of it. Often our agenda does not fit in with
the horses needs or understanding, and we enter into a state
of confusion, frustration and conflict. This can quickly spiral
out of control and suddenly we find that our horse has simply
switched off from us, or started presenting undesirable and
possibly dangerous behaviour.
Incidentally
I have been there and got the T shirt with this situation.
I battled for the best part of fifteen years with my old horse
Jack. Eventually he retracted from me and we had no relationship.
It took a lot of heartache and uncomfortable soul searching
to start discovering another way of interacting with him.
Now we have a kind and gentle understanding and he is finally
showing me respect and affection. It has taken time for me
to earn this, and it's always work in progress.
If
you will want to feel inspired and more confident about you
and your horse, then please get in touch with me to ascertain
if we can work together as a team of three - you, your horse
& I.
One day confidence & self esteem
workshops are planned for very late in 2008, to be held in
Oxfordshire.
